How Countdown Dates Are Calculated

For fixed-date events like Christmas (December 25) or New Year's Day (January 1), the tool calculates the exact number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds between right now and midnight of the target date. The result updates every second.

Recurring Event Logic

When a recurring event has already passed this year, the countdown automatically advances to the next occurrence. For example, if today is December 26, the Christmas countdown immediately jumps to next December 25.

Easter Calculation

Easter is computed using the Anonymous Gregorian algorithm: Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21. The algorithm computes this for any year without needing a lookup table.

Thanksgiving (US)

Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November. The tool computes this dynamically: find November 1, advance to the first Thursday, then add 21 days.
